A worksheet and lesson to supplement the film Heaven is Real. Excellent for teaching life after death at GCSE also superb for religious experiences. I have written and attached an advice for teachers sheet which give discussion points and timings. Kids loved it as it's based on a true story. I show them the YouTube clips of the actual interviews after the lesson.

Using Bruce Almighty as a stimulus this lesson allows students to get to grips with the keywords used to explore the nature of God. Worksheet and PowerPoint included

Lesson 2: What if the world was perfect? A creative lesson for students to explore various arguments when looking at the problem of evil. Contains: a) PowerPoint with activities and outcomes b) A homework task c) Differentiated comic strips for the final task where students need to produce an argument. d) Resources to compliment the PowerPoint tasks I use this lesson to introduce argument writing through the medium of debate and the use of the comic strip

A set of lessons and resources that introduce various themes that will be studied at GCSE this was taught to Year 9 to prepare them for the GCSE course. Lessons include PowerPoints and Tasks that are easily adaptable. Lesson titles: 1. What do all Christians believe? The Trinity, resurrection, The Crucifixion and Pentecost 2. What is the Bible? 3. A lesson PowerPoint that focusses upon the question: Is it possible for people to change? Activities on each slide - full with differentiated tasks/ questions etc. This lesson can be used to supplement page 30 and 31 of the THINKRE2 textbook as there contains a slide with some comprehension questions. I often end this lesson with a courtroom debate which is very interesting - the assessment criteria etc, for this is also on the PowerPoint itself

A set of sources have been placed together (images, testimonies etc.). Students in groups or independently should look at the sources and work out what happened during the Civil Rights movement. I have attached the worksheet that students can record their ideas on. The PowerPoint attached also gives a whole host of discussion points/ differentiated questions and tasks for students to engage in. I have found this lesson to be very successful in reinforcing collaborative learning in the classroom. This could be used for both RE and history.

Activities contained upon the PowerPoint include: A set of comprehension questions which can be used alongside the ThinkRE2 textbook Some of Ghandi's beliefs/ teachings form a starter for students to discuss The feelings chat activity (Students are to watch parts of the film 'Ghandi' and create a feelings chart of how he felt through various parts of his life (documents attached)) A final activity attached is for students to create a twitter account about Ghandi.

A set of resources for students to read and explore the parable of 'The Good Samaritan'. 1. PowerPoint with differentiated activities/ outcomes 2. Higher Ordered Thinking questions I often get students to choose how they want to present what they have learnt about the parable through: a news article, drama, blurb for a book etc.

A PowerPoint that introduces the importance of rules within religion using Islamic food laws as an example. I often use this lesson with the ThinkRE2 textbook however it could be used without.

Three lessons that explore War and Peace using the ThinkRE2 textbook as a stimulus. You could also use and adapt the PowerPoints without the textbook. Lesson Titles: Why war? A PowerPoint that looks briefly at the cause of poverty and religious attitudes to it. I use a THINKRE2 textbook for students to explore Christian and Hindu beliefs about poverty (to supplement the lesson you could simply find a brief bit on Hindu and Christian attitudes). Activities are supplemented by images/ questions and discussion opportunities. I have also attached an assessment criteria, PowerPoint and writing frame for an essay in response to the question: Poverty has always been with us. Poverty will always be with us. Why should we bother?

This lesson allows students to read the Nicene/ Apostles creed and pick out key Christian teachings and keywords. I usually place students into groups to complete this task. In addition the Nicene Creed is the longest so I usually give this the more able students. Question sheets are provided to allow students to jot down their ideas. Once students have completed the various activities I allow students to create a personal creed.
